Fall Home Maintenance Checklist

I love the Colorado autumn weather, warm days of hiking & cozy nights with chili from the slow cooker. It is also time to get ready for ski season. Keep your home in worry free condition while you hit the slopes with this checklist.

  • Roof - check your roof for damaged shingles. If you find any, have them repaired before winter to prevent leakage.

  • Gutters - Clean and repair your gutters. Remove any leaves and standing water.

  • Windows & Doors - Check the window and door frames for air leaks. Seal any leaks with caulk to keep out the cold air.

  • Chimney - Inspect and clean your chimney to prevent fires during the winter.

  • Storage - Store your outdoor furniture and tools for safe-keeping during the colder months.

  • Furnace - Have your furnace serviced for optimal warmth through out the winter months. Pro-Tip: pick up a 6 pack of filters and change them once per month for the best indoor air quality. Set a monthly reminder on your phone to get it done :)

  • Yard Maintenance - Did you know the grass roots are actually growing deeper to prepare for winter? Now is the best time to fertilize and reseed your lawn.

  • Sprinkler System - Schedule your system to be cleared out now so you don't have to worry about a broken sprinkler pipe in the spring.

  • Tree Maintenance - Trim any branches to promote healthy growth in the spring. Cut any tree limbs that are dangerously close to power lines or the roof of your house. Heavy snow and ice can cause damage in the winter.

  • Here is a PRINTABLE checklist for you.

Need referrals of great service providers in Boulder county for any of the above maintenance - contact me, I will be happy to provide.
